I was a long-time Ford driver ("daily-driver") but really hate the direction the company is going. Dumping all their mainstream cars, building mostly SUVs and trucks, and now this... don't like it. *NM*

I've been invited to the unveiling of ......the Mustang Mach E. Really?? The Mach E? *NM*
Electric SUV from Ford. Shares nothing with the Mustang except inspiration. *NM*
I'm disappointed they chose to put the Mustang name on it, rather than just "Mach-E" or whatever. Diluting the brand. Yes, I know about Porsche SUV's and others doing the same. *NM*
I still haven't forgiven Porsche for making a 4 door sedan (Panamera) and SUV (Cayenne). I miss the old 928 and wish they did a successor to that platform. *NM*
When I first read of this electric "Mustang" I was disappointed that Ford used this iconic name to supposedly enhance the marketing of this vehicle. This would seem to dilute the Mustang brand and diminish the uniqueness of the ponycar... *NM*
Didn’t they do something similar with the Thunderbird at one point? It seems like everything was Thunderbird and now, many years later, Ford is doing it again with Mustang. *NM*
My biggest problem is that Ford is using Mustang, a brand that defined the genre of ponycar, and is associating the name with a vehicle that is the exact opposite---a crossover suv and an electric one at that. For Mustang owners (including myself with my new acquisition)...
The first generation Ford Probe was *very* close to being a Mustang replacement . *NM*
It was intended to be based on what I know. IF that had happened, I wouldn’t have one. *NM*
I'll never be totally convinced that "enthusiasts" and "fans" led Ford to change their minds in not making the Probe into the next gen Mustang. Corporations don't care about enthusiasts, they care about the bottom line. I'm sure it must have.....
It was market driven... when we had the first gas crisis, US mfgrs got religion and started developing small high MPG cars. Once gas was cheap and plentiful again, we went back to our evil ways. Mfgrs did what they could to recoop investments.. Fiero was there too! *NM*
The name Mustang is bigger than Ford, so the spin doctors try to dilute it, Iaccoca is spinning in his grave *NM*
Well, you have to remember he was the one responsible for the Pinto-based Mustang that debuted in '74. I don't think he would be totally against it. *NM*

It's not up to us? Yes it is, vote with your wallet. Don't buy their crossovers and trucks... unless you really need one. *NM*
Exactly! PU trucks have replaced the old RWD sedan/coupe and CUV's/SUV's have replaced the station wagon/minivan and later FWD sedan of yesteryear. Someday, self-driving electric pods will replace everything except for air travel. *NM*
Well.....according to the automotive pundits, no one is buying sedans anymore. They're just buying trucks and S/CUV's these days. *NM*
I guess that's why all the Japanese and Korean manufacturers continue to pump them out? *NM*
Yep, and that is what will make the US a 2nd class nation, I pity future generations. *NM*
I believe it is basic economics for the auto companies, fewer platforms, fewer assembly lines, fewer workers. Gone are the days of "make what they want" marketing. It's now sell them what we make. Sad. craig cochran *NM*
Re: Ditto! *NM*
Ford PR employee John Clor did his ENTIRE column in the Mustang News (Mustang Club of America's monthly magazine) a year or so ago on the Mustang Mach E name, and he was P-Oed over it!!
Remember that Ford spread the "Cobra" name over several cars back then. *NM*
