Makes me wonder about the '71 Impala convertible promo. Techinically, the windshield header is correct just like the air-brushed brochure pics, but the header and A-pillar shape were totally different on the real car when released. Makes me wonder if.....

Makes me wonder if the rounded style windshield header and A-pillar shape was an 11th hour design change by the GM or MPC just flubbed it up and got it wrong. Also, I wonder why this body style was never converted into kit production at the time. It seems the promo tool would be first to satisfy the promo contract and then they would do a kit run to amortize some of the development costs.

Did the auto manufacturers have a say in which promos would be slated for kit production at the time?
