...would adapt better to the Fireball 500, at least at the curve of the rear edge where it meets the cowl (since the car started out as a '66 Barracuda), but the peak won't be there at all.

Chuck, if you're looking for hoods anyway, a hood "from a Fireball 500 / for your Fireball 500" might not be too tough to find, as it's been reissued a few times and some people buy or break them up as parts kits.

Also, you still have the issue of the depressions in the hood for the "hood pipes" (I'm just not sure what to really call them...).
