Some tracks dropped to 1/8-mile, because they were designed and built when 225 mph was the fastest capable speed back then. Now with TFs running 300+...some tracks HAD to gut down.

They didn't have enough runoff for a car at 300 moh. in the 1/4-mile!
Most of those tracks were opened back in the 1960s or early '60s. Who knew back then that 300 was going to be run by the '80s?
