There actually are a lot of big lakes in Texas due to dams for power, water supply, and recreation. There are a lot of boaters and a need for some patrolling for reckless behavior. I am not sure if this size boat is still in service. Most are closer to the
I've always wanted to scratch up an airboat, they are very popular in my area of Florida, and our county Sheriff has at least one. I just wish I could find a 1/25 Lycoming aircraft engine...
As much as people hate to hear it, the Corvair would be "close enough". Most all of the airboat engine suppliers are hawking the Chevy LS these days.
I do see a lot of airboats powered by SBC engines, but the hard core guys still like the aircraft engine. Most are Lycoming, but there are a few Continentals and even see an old Franklin now and then *NM*
