That's right. Flat silver, silver grey, gloss black or body color was, and still is, the correct finish for classic sports car wheels.
Chrome or even polished steel spokes was normally for show cars. Racers and road cars were subjected to harsh conditions during the time.
Check web for photos of Goodwood Revival's pre-1966 sports cars and sedans. Just as pretty today as they were in the 60's !
